Design Process for Cookbook

We were assigned the task of creating fast sketches of possible concepts that could be created to help solve a problem. The problem that I focused on was kitchen apps and recipe access. This assignment was a crazy 8 sketch and each one had a theme that was listed at the top. I focused on three of these sketches to iterate on.

Hand-drawn sketch of a website design ideas with various small illustrations and notes. Includes sketches of website layouts, videos, social sites, cooking, and family worksheets, along with notes on what each section represents.
Hand-drawn sketches and notes about recording ideas, including problems, back and forth communication, video recording, and transcription for a kitchen project.
Hand-drawn sketches of various skateboard parts and accessories with handwritten labels, including skateboard deck, trucks, wheels, and grip tape.
Hand-drawn sketch of various kitchen and organization ideas, including a clock, bear busting bowls, trash can with refillable bags, double-sided knife for faster chopping, refrigerator in cabinets, chess board kit table, coffee cup, kitchen island that turns into a table, and a convertible kitchen cabinet.
Three concept sheets for a digital recipe book, labeled Concept 1, Concept 2, and Concept 3. Concept 1 includes a greeting to Francis, recipes for chickpea hummus and beet & carrot salad, and a description of the digital recipe book. Concept 2 features a voice recipe reader design with a graphic of a microphone and description of the feature. Concept 3 presents a social website for families or groups to share recipes, with a focus on young families, and includes a green toggle indicator in the top right corner.

Our class laid out 3 different concepts they narrowed it down to and everyone voted which concept should be pushed forward.

A printed page titled 'Concept 1' with ideas for a digital recipe book, including sections for Chickpea Hummus and Beet & Carrot Salad recipes, and a description of the project. There are marker doodles of colored dots at the bottom.

Based on feedback, I decided to move forward with concept 1 that was a website/app that could be used as a social site for people who like to cook and want to discover new recipes.
